Henri Delaunay Euro 2008 Trophy

 

A new Euro Cup Trophy will be awarded at the Euro 2008 championships in Switzerland-Austria this summer.

The European Championships was founded in 1960 but the first event was played in 1958, the event was first proposed by a French Footballer named Henri Delaunay in the 1920’s and so the Euro Trophy has been named after him. The tournament has always been a 16 team event, with 16 of the best footballing nations in Europe taking part in the event.

The European Championship takes place once every 4 years, similiar to the FIFA World Cup.
